In Their Own Words
Hafiza binti Sulaiman
Batik retailer, Georgetown
"I came in thinking I needed someone to tell me what to do. What I actually got was a clearer view of what I already knew but had not sat down to organise. The written overview was something I read several times over the weeks that followed."

Tan Keng Huat
Logistics services, Bayan Lepas
"The Expansion Advisory was well paced. Three sessions over five weeks felt right — enough time between each one to think things through without losing the thread. The budget outline helped me see which of the two directions we discussed actually made sense for us financially."

Noraini binti Ibrahim
Medical equipment distributor, Penang
"The Enterprise engagement took ten weeks and produced a process map that we still reference in team briefings. What I valued most was that Cempaka did not try to change how we operate wholesale — they identified the two or three places where a small adjustment would make a meaningful difference."

Raymond Lim
F&B operator, Gurney Drive
"Straightforward and honest. They told me clearly that one of the expansion ideas I had in mind was not well timed, and explained why without making me feel foolish about it. That kind of frankness is hard to find."

Zulaikha Ahmad
Event management, George Town
"The Health Check was a reasonable starting point for us. The session itself ran about three hours — we covered more ground than I expected. The notes that came afterwards were in plain language, which made it easy to share with my business partner."

Chong Wei Ming
Printing services, Penang
"We have been operating for eighteen years and I was sceptical about what an adviser could add at this stage. The Enterprise engagement changed that view. The process map they produced was the first time anyone had documented clearly how work moves through our company."

How Engagements Have Played Out
Challenge
Small retailer unsure of where costs were going
A two-outlet apparel shop in Georgetown had been trading for six years but had never formally reviewed its cost structure. The owner felt things were getting tighter but could not locate the source. Cash flow was inconsistent despite steady footfall.
Our Approach
Health Check with extended cost review focus
We walked through four years of trading figures and mapped supplier payment terms against sales rhythm. The session identified two supplier contracts with terms that did not align with when stock was selling, creating a recurring cash gap. A tidy written overview outlined the gap and three options for addressing it.
Outcome
Clearer picture, one supplier contract renegotiated
The owner renegotiated terms with one supplier within the following month. Cash flow variability reduced noticeably by the quarter's end. The client noted that having the overview in writing made it easier to approach the supplier conversation with confidence.
"I knew something was off. I just needed someone to help me see exactly where."
Challenge
Growing company weighing two expansion paths
A Penang-based cleaning services business with twelve staff was considering whether to open a second operational base or invest in equipment to take on larger commercial contracts. Both directions had appeal, but the owner was uncertain which was financially sensible given current capacity.
Our Approach
Steady Expansion Advisory over five weeks
Three sessions examined capacity constraints, the true cost of each path, and the risk profile of the commercial contract approach versus geographic expansion. The direction paper laid out both options with a simple budget outline for each, and a prioritised action list for the owner to work through independently.
Outcome
Direction chosen, equipment acquired within two months
The owner chose the equipment investment path and secured a commercial contract within eight weeks of closing the engagement. The check-in call confirmed the action list remained relevant and that the budget outline had held up closely against actual figures.
"The budget outline was the most useful thing. It made the decision feel much less like a guess."
Challenge
Multi-team company with unclear internal coordination
An established trading and distribution company with four departments found that decisions were increasingly slow and that teams were sometimes working at cross purposes. Leadership had grown the business well but the internal structure had not kept pace with the company's size.
Our Approach
Enterprise Structure Consulting over ten weeks
We examined reporting lines, meeting structure, and how decisions were made across departments. Advisory sessions were held with different team leads as well as senior leadership. A documented process map was produced covering the main workflows and where handoffs between teams were breaking down.
Outcome
Process map in active use, coordination noticeably improved
The closing summary identified three structural adjustments, two of which were implemented within the engagement period. The process map has since been updated twice by the company's own team, which the client noted as a sign that it was actually being used.
"The process map is still on the wall in our operations room. That says more than I could."
